GHMS is seeking a Consultant to help us transition and maintain the operations of the Food Bank.
Request for Consulting Services
Overview
The Gerald Hardy Memorial Society/Rainbow Food Bank is seeking a consultant to provide operational leadership and transition support during a period of organizational change. The successful consultant will help maintain effective food bank operations while supporting the transfer of oversight to a new organization, ensuring continuity of service, volunteer engagement, community collaboration, and long-term sustainability.
Consulting Services
• Coordinate and support the transition of food bank operations to new organizational oversight, including planning, documentation, and knowledge transfer.
• Oversee food bank operations to ensure safe, effective, and member-focused service delivery.
• Support and coordinate volunteers.
• Build and maintain relationships with community partners, stakeholders, donors, and service providers.
• Monitor inventory, records, reporting requirements, and operational compliance.
• Provide regular updates, recommendations, and progress reports to GHMS leadership.
Expected Deliverables
• Monthly operational and transition reports.
• Documentation of operational procedures.
• Transition recommendations and implementation support.
• Volunteer coordination and continuity plans.
• Final transition summary report.
Qualifications
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Experience in nonprofit, community, or food security sectors is preferred.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Volunteer coordination experience is preferred.
• Criminal Records Check.
Independent Consultant Status
The Consultant shall provide services as an independent contractor and not as an employee of GHMS and shall be responsible for all applicable taxes, deductions, insurance, and statutory obligations.
Term of Engagement
The anticipated term of the engagement is three (3) months, with the possibility of extension by mutual written agreement.
Compensation
• $26.00 per hour.
• Up to 70 hours per month.
• Monthly invoicing.
• Payment within 30 days of approved invoice.
• Approved expenses reimbursed.
Confidentiality
The Consultant shall maintain strict confidentiality regarding all client, volunteer, donor, financial, operational, and organizational information.
Termination
Either party may terminate the engagement with fourteen (14) days written notice. GHMS may terminate immediately for misconduct, breach of confidentiality, fraud, conflict of interest, or failure to perform services.
