The Gerald Hardy Memorial Society is seeking a  Summer Youth Assistant 

 

This is more than just a job—it’s an opportunity to build skills, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to inclusive programs that support individuals of all abilities.

 

What You’ll Be Part Of  At GHMS,

We are dedicated to creating opportunities for people living with varying abilities through community support, life skills programming, and meaningful work experiences.

What You’ll Do,

Support day-to-day operations across programs and services

Assist with sorting, pricing, and organizing donations

Help maintain a clean, welcoming, and safe environment

Work collaboratively with staff while also taking initiative independently

What You’ll Gain

Valuable hands-on work experience

Strong teamwork and communication skills

Exposure to nonprofit operations and community programming

Experience supporting individuals with diverse abilities

A chance to make a meaningful impact in your community

What We’re Looking For

Between 15–30 years of age (funding requirement)

Reliable, organized, and adaptable

Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team

A genuine interest in supporting people and community inclusion

Assets (but not required)

Experience in retail or customer service

Understanding of barriers to employment and inclusion

Other Requirements:

Must pass a criminal record and vulnerable sector check (if 18yrs or older)

Ability to lift and move items safely

Availability to work Saturdays (shared schedule)

 

Position Details

35 hours/week for 16 weeks $18.00/hour

Application deadline: April 29, 2026

Start date: May 11th, 2026

*Please note that if you are currently enrolled in an education program, we can be flexible with the hours and start date.
