Gerald Hardy Memorial Society (GHMS) Job Posting

Operations Assistant Position

 

The Operations Assistant reports to the Executive Director of the GHMS and works in collaboration with the ED and other staff to fulfill the society’s objectives. The Operations Assistant will be responsible for providing necessary support within our Thrift Store and Online Auction.

 

 

Duties/ Responsibilities

 

Coordinate incoming donations

Assist with the daily operations of the Cascades Thrift Shop

Work with Volunteers to sort, clean, and price donations appropriately

Help keep the Thrift Shop tidy and well organized

Assist our participants in customer service skills training and store organization

 

Qualifications

 

Experience in a leadership role is an asset

Good communication and organizational skills

Experience with people that have various abilities

Knowledge of developmental and/or physical disabilities and mental health concerns

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Ability to manage multiple demands

Must provide a clean criminal records/ vulnerable sector check

 

Personal Characteristics

 

Be in good health and willing to work in a situation that requires frequent physical participation

Ability to safely lift and move objects up to 25lbs

Be a team leader, one who works effectively with staff and volunteers

Versatile, able to quickly adapt to changing work environment

Behave ethically; ensuring personal behavior aligns with the values of the society

Willing to adapt working hours as necessary

Must be available to work Saturdays on a shared working schedule

 

 

Wage/ Hours

20 hours per week / $18.00 hour

We are looking to fill this position as soon as possible.

Gerald Hardy Memorial Society (GHMS) Job Posting

Foodbank Coordinator Position

 

The Foodbank Coordinator reports to the Executive Director of the GHMS. They will work in collaboration with the GHMS team and community to fulfill the standards and objectives of The Rainbow Foodbank. The Foodbank Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining all aspects of The Rainbow Foodbank.

 

 

Duties/ Responsibilities

Coordinate and oversee the operations of the Rainbow Foodbank with the guidance of the Executive Director

Support the sustainable growth of the Foodbank to meet the increasing demand in the community

Place grocery orders, receive and organize monthly deliveries from Feed Nova Scotia

Provide monthly food access to members of the foodbank

Report essential foodbank statistics to Feed Nova Scotia

Ensure the foodbank follows the expected Standards from Foodbanks Canada

 

Qualifications

Experience in a leadership, coordination, or management position

Advanced communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

Familiarity working with people that have various abilities

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Volunteer Management an asset

Ability to manage multiple demands

Driver’s license and reliable transportation are required

Must provide a clean criminal records/ vulnerable sector check

80 hours per month / $18.00 hour

6-month Contract to start. Opportunity to be renewed on a yearly basis.

We are looking to fill this position as soon as possible.
